The International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art is organized every four years by a loose net conglomeration of professional artists, academics and foundry practitioners who use cast iron to make sculpture. We are unique in that each member of the Steering Committee volunteers their time and  pays their own way because they believe it is a good cause. The Conference was founded as a grass roots event, no one in charge, no president, VP, or treasurer. Since its conception it has remained  vital to the advancement and proliferation of the use of cast iron in contemporary sculpture internationally; it has spawned a movement and many other conferences and symposium.

We live in a culture in which we attend things, we buy a ticket and go consume something that was made for us. This conference is unique because as well as the opportunity to watch, listen and learn; delegates can participate and experience for themselves. It is primarily funded by conference fees any other support is greatly appreciated.

For our Welcome Reception what better way to start a Cast Iron Conference than with a special demonstration of the Blists Hill Historic Iron Works.  The Ironbridge Gorge Museums have offered to start up the Ironworks to demonstrate how Wrought Iron was made in Victorian times, this is a unique opportunity that you can sponsor for the Conference.

There is a growing amount of activity concerning the use of cast iron in sculpture throughout Eastern Europe such as in Latvia, Poland and  Estonia. The Conference provides a unique platform and acts as a catalyst for artists, students and academics to springboard from ;  opportunities for research and development are initiated especially in the case of students .  The fact that the Conference is being bought to England for the first time is a significant help as being held in the USA it was nearly impossible for these students to attend, if you are interested in sponsoring a Student from Easter Europe please
